The End of an Era

Now that I've quit drinking, all my oats neatly baled and stacked and stored away, I spent the last night of my 30s by myself - eating sticky white rice and puffy fried chicken in a small, dark Chinese restaurant with Carrie Underwood on the radio and CSI on TV, followed by a good book and a coffee at Starbucks. It was lovely.

I mean, what could I want, really? A Mercedes convertible? A diamond watch? A photo with my Democratic hero? I couldn't ask for any more as I begin mid-life than a chilly November night with Augusten Burroughs and a chai tea latte.

Happy four-oh, dear. I hope it's a good one. And speaking of Swiss Army watches, you're truly a gem, and I'm glad to have your (internet) friendship. May all your wishes come true. Enjoy your special day.

Woo! Happy 40th! I thought it would suck, this being 40 thing, but it's not so bad really.

Happy, Happy, HAPPY Birthday from one fellow Scorpio to another!! You've come a great way this year and you deserve all the blessings that come your way.

Best of luck to you this year!

Happy, happy, happy day to you!

Happy happy belated birthday k!

I still have oats to sew so I was drunk and singing karaoke at my birthday party.

I didn't get a mercedes convertible, though...
